OK – So here’s the deal – I’m not really into running at the moment, but I’m determined to lose a bit of weight and need some motivation to do it. So I’ve set myself a goal of walking 1000 miles by Christmas, with the aim of raising £10,000 miles for the charity Thyroid UK. I’m a little restricted with the time I can devote to this (about an hour or so 5 days a week) so I’ll be doing it in the gym next door on a treadmill. To make it a little more challenging I’ll be setting the incline at 20%, that’s the equivalent of walking up a 1 in 5 hill. At Blue Horizon we constantly see the uphill struggle that that patients with thyroid disease have in chasing a diagnosis and treatment.
Coping with Thyroid Disease can be an uphill struggle. I’ll be walking 1000 miles before Christmas on a 20% incline to raise money for Thyroid UK
If you sponsor me through https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/1000miles-for-thyroid-uk you’ll get an automatic thank you email from me with a
£35 coupon code you can use at the premium blood test services that Blue Horizon run at Nuffield, Spire or London, and a £5 coupon to use with the budget postal blood test service. There is no minimum donation, just give what you feel comfortable with. The coupons need to be used by the end of the month, but there is no need to attend/send your postal sample until the end of the following month. Of course, if you would just like to sponsor me there is no need to use the voucher at all and Thyroid UK will be very grateful.

UPDATE – I’ve just been doing some calculations, and it look like i’ll have to walk/run (when I get fitter) about 8 miles per workday to get the 1,000 miles in before Christmas. As I get fitter, i’ll take the challenge outdoors and bring the office dogs Poppy and Hugo.
