There are now a number of Coronavirus test kits being offered by reputable blood testing companies, most of which will be working with a verified CQC accredited Laboratory.
Although the NHS is hoping to test hundreds of thousands of people each day, only around 10,000 – 15,000 people a day are being tested. Coronavirus spreads very quickly, and in some cases, people can spread COVID-19 to others without realising it. People at an early stage of their infection or with relatively low levels of the virus may show up as a negative.
There are two types of test available, swab test which requires a swab taken from the nose or throat and a blood test.
Swab tests check for coronavirus genetic material and can confirm if you are positive. In contrast, a blood test detects antibodies created by the body to fight the virus and will show if the person has had the infection in the past.
